- 1. Introduction
First off—thanks for checking out Power Guru. Here’s how things work around here, with all the details about using our website and booking our services. If you’re looking for help with heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical jobs, or anything to do with home safety in Australia, these terms cover what you can expect from us.
When you see “Power Guru", "we", "us", or “our”, that’s us, Power Guru. And when we say “you” or "your", we mean you—the person browsing the website, asking for a quote, booking a job, or reaching out for our help.
By using our website or any of our services, you’re agreeing to stick to the parts of these terms that make sense for what you’re doing. If you’ve also got a quote, work order, or a specific service agreement, keep it handy and read it together with these terms. If something doesn’t match up between your agreement and what’s written here, whatever’s in your specific agreement takes priority—as far as the law lets us.
- 2. What We Do
We set up and deliver all sorts of home services across Australia, from HVAC installs to plumbing repairs, electrical fixes, and safety checks. Exactly what you get depends on where you live, who’s available, and what’s legal—plus anything mapped out in your quote.
Here’s a quick overview
- HVAC: We install, service, maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems.
- Plumbing: We handle installations, repairs, maintenance, and tracking down leaks.
- Electrical: We sort out new wiring, repairs, maintenance, and track down electrical faults.
- Home Safety: We do safety checks, inspections, and certain installations.
Not all services are available everywhere, and sometimes a job won’t be suitable for a certain property. The details on our website aren’t a guarantee—we’re giving general info, not a promise that you’ll be able to book every service at every location.
And when it comes to regulated work, we’re always sticking to licensing, safety, and any other rules thrown our way.
- 3. Using the Website
Have a look around and check out what we offer. You can use our site to read up, send questions, ask for quotes, or reach out if you need us.
We just ask you to be honest when sharing info with us and follow the law while you’re here. Please don’t try to hack into our systems, sneak in viruses, or send dodgy or fake enquiries. Messing with the site or putting people at risk isn’t okay.
Some days, we’ll need to update the website, do repairs, or hit pause for maintenance or security. We do our best, but we can’t promise the site will always be up or that every single detail will be 100% accurate.
- 4. Enquiries, Quotes, and Bookings
Just dropping us a question or asking for a quote doesn’t tie you into anything, and it doesn’t lock in a job. Some projects need a little more from you before we can get started—extra photos, a site visit, or maybe a quick technical check. We want to be accurate with our pricing, and those details really help.
When you get a quote from us, it lays out exactly what’s included: the cost (GST included), what materials we’ll use, labour, payment terms, expected timeframes, and anything that’s not covered. If the quote doesn’t clearly say it’s a fixed price, just treat it as an estimate. That means, with the info we have right now, it’s our best shot at the price—but if something unexpected pops up after we start, the final amount could change.
Quotes stay valid for a period of time, which should be listed on the quote itself. If you take a little longer to decide, reach out and double-check that the quote is still good before you give us the go-ahead.
Once we confirm your booking, that’s when you’re officially in our schedule. We do everything possible to arrive on time, but sometimes things just come up. Maybe there’s an emergency, a scheduling hiccup, or we run into a problem getting access to the property. If we ever need to shift your appointment, we promise to let you know as soon as possible, so you’re never left wondering what’s going on.
- 5. Service Agreements
When you accept a quote, lock in a booking, sign a work order, or otherwise give us consent; it means that you’re entering a service agreement with us.
Before you agree, please review the full scope, price, payment terms, cancellation policy, and any specifics noted. And by going ahead, you’re confirming you’re allowed to order work at the property. If you’re a tenant, property manager, or booking for someone else, make sure you have the go-ahead if it’s needed.
Sometimes, we’ll have to turn down a job—maybe it’s not safe or legal or just doesn’t make sense. If either of us needs to end or cancel an agreement, we’ll work through it by the rules in the agreement and the law.
- 6. Your Role and Property Access
Help us help you—share what you know about your place, the job, and any problems or dangers we should watch out for. Give us safe access to the work area. Lock up pets, move any belongings out of our way, and fill us in ahead of time about asbestos, structural issues, hard-to-access spots, or anything risky (like hidden wires).
If we can’t get in, it’s not safe, or we’re missing info; the job might need to be rescheduled. Any call-out, waiting, or cancellation fees will be fair, clear, and always in line with the terms and the law.
- 7. Changes and Extra Work
We will do the job described in your quote or service agreement. If you decide you want something done differently, we will need to put the changes in writing, plus any additional costs. Sometimes we run into things that are not revealed before a project is started, such as bad or old piping, electrical problems, problems with equipment, or a configuration that is unsafe. We will advise you of what has been found, the cost to correct or replace, and the need for your permission to proceed, unless there is a safety issue which requires immediate attention.
If you choose not to go ahead with extra work, we’ll let you know how that might impact the safety, completion, or performance of the job.
- 8. Unique Considerations for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Home Safety
- - HVAC: System performance depends on property size, insulation, how the equipment is used and more, and we won’t promise energy savings or specific results unless that’s clearly stated in your agreement and legal.
- - Plumbing: Pipes and drains often have problems hidden beneath the surface, and a repair can reveal unexpected damage, which means sometimes extra work is needed.
- - Electrical: Electrical jobs can involve risks like fire or shocks, so we only work by the book—licensed and safe. If we run into a safety problem, we might have to stop until we agree on a solution.
Home Safety: Our evaluations and inspections are limited to the agreed scope. Unless stated otherwise, we cannot assure you that your entire home is devoid of potential future risks or concealed hazards.
Whenever an issue is outside our scope, we’ll suggest further assessment or recommend another specialist who’s qualified for the job.
- 9. Compliance and Safety
We stick to all state and territory laws, regulations, technical standards, and licensing rules—all the legal stuff. Some jobs need permits or inspections; who sorts that out depends on your agreement and what the law requires.
Don’t ask us to break the law or ignore safety standards. If the job becomes illegal or dangerous, we’ll explain why we have to stop and chat through your options.
- 10. Pricing, Deposits & Payment
The details around your price—what’s included, how much, when it’s due—are laid out in your quote, invoice, or agreement. We include all the usual suspects: labour, materials, equipment, travel, call-outs, and agreed extra charges. GST is shown wherever it applies.
Need a deposit or a progress payment? We’ll spell it out first—how much and when it’s due—and you’ll know what you’re signing up for.
Invoices are payable by the due date using our accepted payment methods. If you think there’s a mistake, get in touch fast—tell us what’s wrong, and we’ll do our best to sort it out. But anything you don’t dispute and properly owe still needs to be paid on time.
If you’re late, we’ll send reminders, and, in line with the law and your agreement, we can charge reasonable costs or hold off on non-urgent work (with notice). We won’t ever bill you for anything illegal or outside the agreement.
- 11. Cancelling, Rescheduling & Refunds
Need to cancel or move your booking? Let us know as early as you can.
Whether you’re charged with a cancellation or rescheduling fee (or have a deposit deducted) depends on our agreement, when you cancel, any costs we’ve already incurred, and what the law allows. If we’ve spent money on special materials for your job, you might be charged—otherwise, we’re fair. We’ll never keep more money or charge more than your legal rights allow.
If we need to cancel or change the schedule, we’ll give you as much notice as possible and work with you to rebook.
All refunds, cancellations, and action for incomplete or defective work are handled under your agreement, and Australian Consumer Law. Your legal rights aren’t changed by anything here—you’ll always have the protections you’re entitled to.
- 12. Materials, Equipment & Warranties
We’ll supply what’s promised in your quote or as we agreed. If a product you chose is no longer available, we’ll talk to you about other options before making a big switch.
Products we supply or install often have a manufacturer’s warranty, which stands alongside (not instead of) your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Want us to install your own equipment or materials? We might say no if it looks unsafe, faulty, or unsuitable. If we go ahead and extra work is required, we’ll let you know in advance and stick to what’s legal.
We take pride in quality work. If there’s an extra warranty or service guarantee from us, it’ll be in your quote or warranty document.
Think something’s not right or unfinished? Reach out and let us know—be prompt. We might need access to check and sort out a solution, considering the agreement and the law.
Your legal warranty rights are never limited or replaced by anything we provide.
- 13. Property Damage & Liability
We’ll take care when working at your place, but we need your help—let us know about any weak spots, fragile surfaces, hidden pipes, or other risks.
If we damage something while working, let us know quickly and send any helpful details. Who’s responsible depends on what happened, what was in the agreement, and the law.
We’re not liable for existing defects, problems caused by inaccurate info you gave us, unrelated work from others, or anything outside our control; however, if something’s our fault, or the law says we can’t dodge responsibility, we won’t.
In the same way, if your actions lead to loss due to unlawful or negligent behaviour, you may be held responsible to the extent permitted by law. But you’ll never have to cover us for stuff that’s clearly our mistake, where the law protects you.
- 14. Australian Consumer Law
Australian Consumer Law always applies—no exceptions. Our services come with certain guarantees no one can take away.
If there’s a major fault, you can quit the agreement, get a refund for unfinished work, or claim for reasonable losses or damage. If there’s a minor issue, we get a fair chance to fix it. If we don’t? You can walk away and get money back for what you haven’t used, and nothing in these terms limits your basic rights.
- 15. Privacy and Your Information
When you reach out or book with us, we gather things like your name, the property address, and job details. We use this info to quote, schedule, do the work, process payments, keep in touch, and meet legal obligations.
We treat your information with care, following our Privacy Policy, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.
Sometimes, sharing info with contractors, suppliers, or service partners makes sense to deliver your service or meet legal requirements—but we always follow the privacy rules.
Check out our Privacy Policy on our website of Power Guru for more information on how we collect, use, store, and share your information.
- 16. Intellectual Property & External Links
All the text, logos, photos, graphics, and content on our website belong to Power Guru, unless we say otherwise. You can use our content as needed for business connected to our services—don’t copy, share, or repurpose it for something else unless we give you permission or the law says you can.
We sometimes link to other sites (like suppliers or manufacturers) for your convenience. We don’t control those sites or take responsibility for their content, availability, or how they handle privacy. Be smart and check their terms before using them.
- 17. Complaints & Sorting Out Problems
Not happy with a quote, booking, payment, or completed job? Reach out to us—include your name, booking details, a rundown of the problem, and any helpful info.
We’ll look into things, possibly ask for more info, and arrange to inspect if needed. Then we’ll talk through solutions—repairs, refunds, or whatever else the agreement and law allow.
If we can’t work it out together, you’re always free to contact your state or territory consumer protection authority or other dispute bodies. We don’t take away any legal options you have.
- 18. Changes, Ending Agreements & Law
We may update these terms at any time—if that happens, you’ll see the new version and updated date on our website. Generally, new terms cover website use from when they go live. Existing service agreements stick to what was agreed at the start, unless the law says otherwise.
Either of us can end a service agreement when the agreement and law allow. If something goes really wrong—like repeated refusal of access or major breaches—we might pause work until it’s sorted, or if staying on the job isn’t safe or lawful.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian state or territory in your service agreement, with all consumer protections and legal rules in place.
If one part of these terms isn’t valid, just that bit changes or is removed—whatever the law requires. The rest still applies.
